Official visit of Yachay Tech University to Germany
Yachay Tech University, together with the Ecuadorian Embassy and the Consul in Ludwigsburg, will hold official visits to universities, government, and research institutes of Germany from February 29h to March 4th, 2016.
Yachay Tech, established in March 2014, is the first research-intensive university in Ecuador created to be highly interdisciplinary, to have an internationally recognizable governance structure and to promote fundamental research at each of its six schools, all aiming to change the country´s productive matrix from one dependent on natural resources to one based on knowledge.
The University´s strategic position right at the heart of Yachay City of Knowledge, a new, vibrant metropolis with startup incubators, R&D facilities and industrial outposts, will allow for the promotion of technology transfer and the stimulation of business innovation, aiming at addressing pressing society´s needs both within and outside of Ecuador.
The objective of the mission is to establish strong, long-term, strategic academic and research bilateral collaborations with different world leading research centers and institutes in Germany who are interested in pioneering new discoveries and explore untapped knowledge from one of the world´s top five biodiverse countries in the world, offering a vast playground for research.
Additionally, the university, after only two years of operations, has consolidated a group of researchers that are also looking for potential partnerships, specifically in computer sciences, solid state and condensed matter physics, biological sciences and geosciences.
The rest of the agenda will be filled with several diplomatic meetings including a visit to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to meet with Minister Winfried Herrmann, a tour with Mayor Werner Spec of Ludwigsburg and the Mayor of the city of Tübingen, Mr. Boris Palmer, as Ecuador is also in the midst of continuing the construction of Yachay City of Knowledge and looking forward to collaborating in smart technologies for transportation, security and environmental practices.
